What Do Boosterthon Team Members Do In The Summer?
The Boosterthon Fun Run serves schools across the country during the school year, but have you ever wondered what we do during the summer when school is not in session? We like to use our summer “down time” to stay fit and healthy, impact students, serve others, and prepare for next year’s Boosterthon Fun Run program.
Take a look at what we’ve been doing this summer.
Collin Bell (Charlotte, NC) is working as a whitewater rafting guide at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. Before starting, Collin took a weeklong training course to be certified as a rafting guide and also received his first aid certification just in case of emergency. The manmade river has rapids all the way up to class 4 (the second largest class rapid that is raftable). Collin is one of our most adventurous team members! He helps ensure that every rafter has a safe and exhilarating ride down the river.
Matt Nolan (Orlando, FL) worked as a camp counselor, amping up the enthusiasm at a fun-filled summer camp for kids. Matt spent part of his summer leading sports activities, supervising, and joining in on camp fun for campers 3rd– 5th grade, helping to make this summer the most memorable for his campers. Several of the campers were even Boosterthon students!
Chris Magouryk and his wife, Hayley, (Atlanta, GA) traveled throughout the Dominican Republic with a ministry to serve several communities. Chris and Hayley helped build homes and a children activities center, they distributed food, and visited orphanages for the abandoned and disabled. This is their second year visiting the Dominican Republic.
The summer for our Home Office (Atlanta, GA) is the busiest we’ve ever had. From filming on location in Guatemala, to writing another children’s book for our students, to coordinating our giveback initiative, and much more, next year’s Boosterthon Fun Run program with our newest character theme, Epic Adventure, is going to be our best year yet. It’s a lot of work, but we’re excited to bring a more fun and engaging program to our schools and students. We would love to show you everything we’re rolling out for next year’s program, but we’re saving some big surprises until our first schools kick off in August : ) And in the midst of a busy summer, our home office has moved locations from Duluth, GA to Alpharetta, GA. We are excited to be in a new workspace to better serve our schools.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful and relaxing summer and we cannot wait to bring our newest Boosterthon Fun Run program to your school this coming fall and spring semester.
