The Connecticut Tragedy: A Message From Boosterthon's Founders
This is a message from Chris and Lyndie Carneal, Founders of the Boosterthon Fun Run:
We are heartbroken at today's horrific news of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. As a father of 3 and another on the way, I cannot begin to imagine the heartache and sadness of the grieving parents. My wife and I are devastated. On behalf of 190 families of Boosterthon team members, we just want to say, we are so sorry. We are sorry for your loss. We are sorry for the pain. We wish we could do something.
The Boosterthon team works on incredible elementary school campuses all across America. A story like this is deeply disturbing. But we are first-hand witnesses to thousands of stories of hope each year—parents, teachers, and administrators working together for the good of our students. Every student in America deserves to learn in a place that is safe. They deserve to be surrounded by the support and love they need to reach their full potential. Booster is more committed than ever to assisting schools in this mission. We are committed to supporting schools as they teach students to live with character and live out leadership. We are committed to being a faithful partner to the parent organizations and schools that we serve daily.
The National PTA has many resources available to help those dealing with school violence. You can find those resources here.
You can also check out the incredible school programs offered by our partners at All Pro Dad.
To the entire Boosterthon family—parents, parent organizations, teachers, and administrators—may we all work together to create places where our children can thrive and grow. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved.
