4 Reasons Why Our School Chooses Boosterthon Every Year (And Why You Should Too)
A guest post by Kim Craddock, PTO President at Amy Parks Heath Elementary School (a 5-year partner) in Rockwall, TX.
Four years ago, I began my time on the PTO board as the volunteer coordinator. This gave me an inside view of the school and allowed me to understand how our PTO worked. Our purpose is to partner with the school, helping in any way we can to ensure that Amy Parks is an excellent academic facility and a desirable working environment. A large part of our responsibility includes fundraising. Our goal is to raise enough funds each year to provide our staff with extra tools, resources, and training.
Here are four reasons why we choose Boosterthon as our main fundraiser to help us hit our goal year after year:
Reason #1: Our students LOVE the Boosterthon Team
The first reason, is of course, for the students. Parents want to see their kids happy and excited to go to school every day. We asked our students why they love the program so much, and their answers were always the same: the Boosterthon Team. When the team steps foot on our campus, the whole atmosphere changes!

They get our students excited to help their school. Also, our students are pumped to participate in the daily "huddles” each day, where they learn how to live with character. Some schools pay a separate company to come in and teach a character program, but with Boosterthon, it’s included. The buildup to the day of the Fun Run is filled with excitement, activity, and enthusiasm!
Reason #2: Boosterthon frees up our teachers to actually do their jobs
The second reason we choose Boosterthon is for the teachers. We believe our teachers should be in the classroom teaching, not helping our parent organization with our fundraiser. We surveyed our teachers to find out why they prefer Boosterthon above other fundraisers. Their feedback was not surprising. In the past, we organized and executed our own fundraiser, and it was a LOT of work for the teachers.
“Boosterthon allows the teachers to maintain their daily schedule of instruction, while still getting in on the fun.”
They had to collect donations, organize incentive prizes, and help run the main event. Whether it was a Fun Run or a read-a-thon, they were working it with the parents. Boosterthon allows the teachers to maintain their daily schedule of instruction, while still getting in on the fun. Our teachers have a great time competing for the "most spirited" award by dressing up and trying to out-do one another. However, it doesn't interfere with their instructional time.
Reason #3: Boosterthon delivers a hassle-free experience for parents and volunteers
The third reason we choose Boosterthon is for the parents. At Amy Parks Elementary, we value our volunteers and use them a lot! Boosterthon allows us to have a fantastic fundraiser and not exhaust our volunteers. We still need their help, but it's a fraction of the volunteer time compared to when we ran our own fundraiser.

Throughout the year, we need our volunteers to help the teachers and staff with various projects. Boosterthon prevents us from overusing our volunteers for a few weeks, and instead allows us to maintain a good working relationship with them. After our Boosterthon program ended, our board members gathered feedback from a number of parents. As it turns out, they like having a company like Boosterthon run everything and not having to do so much work.
Reason #4: Boosterthon delivers proven financial results year after year
The final reason we choose Boosterthon is the money! Let's face it: that's why we have fundraisers in the first place—to raise funds for our school! With Boosterthon, we've been able to raise more money for the school than ever before. Plus, our overall profit has increased every year! That tells us that our parents, staff, and administration are supportive of our decision to continue with the program year after year.
“With Boosterthon, we've been able to raise more money for the school than ever before.”
Thanks to Boosterthon’s program, we’ve been able to pour fundraising dollars back into the school like never before. Our experience with Boosterthon has been so wonderful that other schools in our district are taking notice and using the program for themselves.
Boosterthon: A Unanimous Decision
Each year, our PTO board votes on a fundraiser. For the past five years, we’ve agreed that every aspect of Boosterthon is right for our school. We’ve enjoyed working with the Boosterthon team each year. They’re a dedicated group of individuals who love their job (and it shows). They spread joy and excitement to our students while working hard to ensure that we raise funds to benefit the school. Boosterthon has become a part of the identity of Amy Parks Elementary.
